How Much Does Moissanite Cost?: Tasnim Jewellery moissanite guide

Moissanite is popular for one big reason: it gives you the size and sparkle of a large diamond for a small part of the price. But “cheaper than diamond” doesn’t tell you what you’ll actually pay. This guide gives real prices from our own store, explains why one moissanite piece can cost five times more than another, and shows you how to compare prices fairly between sellers.

All prices below are the current selling prices on our store in October 2026, in US dollars, with free worldwide shipping included.

How much does a moissanite engagement ring cost?

Most of our moissanite engagement rings, including 2 carat solitaires, halo rings and three-stone designs, cost $249 to $499. That covers the centre stone, the setting and any accent stones, in 925 sterling silver with yellow, white or rose gold plating.

For comparison, a natural diamond of a similar size and quality typically costs many thousands of dollars before you even choose a setting. Lab-grown diamonds cost less than natural ones but are still usually priced well above moissanite. That gap is why so many couples choose moissanite and put the difference towards the wedding, the honeymoon or a matching band.

Why do iced-out chains and watches cost more?

A ring might hold one large stone and a few dozen small ones. A fully iced-out watch or tennis chain can hold hundreds of stones, each one set by hand. So the price of these pieces is driven less by any single stone and more by:

  • The number of stones. A tennis chain is a continuous row of matched stones from end to end; a bust-down watch covers the case, bezel, dial and bracelet.
  • Setting labour. Pavé and baguette settings take skilled, careful work, stone by stone.
  • Size and weight. Wider chains and bracelets use more metal and more stones.

That’s why a moissanite tennis chain starts around $699 and a fully set watch can run into the thousands, even though both are still a small fraction of the cost of the same designs in diamond. Our iced-out moissanite watch guide explains the styles in detail.

What affects the price of moissanite?

When you compare two pieces, these are the things that genuinely change the price:

  1. Stone size. Bigger stones cost more, but far less steeply than diamonds. Compare stones by their diameter in millimetres, not just carats.
  2. Number of stones and setting style. A solitaire costs less to make than a halo, and a halo less than a fully pavé band or an iced-out piece.
  3. Metal. Sterling silver with gold plating keeps prices accessible. Solid gold or platinum settings cost considerably more for the same design.
  4. Cut and shape. Fancy shapes such as radiant, emerald and pear take more care to cut well than standard rounds.
  5. Customisation. Engraving beyond the basics, special sizes or one-off designs add work and cost.

How to compare moissanite prices between sellers

  • Compare like with like. Check stone size in millimetres, the shape, the number of stones and, above all, the metal. A “14K” ring may be solid gold or gold-plated silver, and those are very different prices.
  • Read the description, not just the title. It should say clearly that the stones are moissanite.
  • Work out the real total. Add shipping, any import duties for your country and the cost of returning an item if it doesn’t fit. We ship free worldwide; import duties, where they apply, are paid by the customer.
  • Check the returns and warranty. We offer 15-day returns on unused pieces and a free 3-month warranty. Custom and engraved pieces are final sale everywhere, so be sure of the size first.
  • Be wary of prices that seem too low. Very cheap “moissanite” can turn out to be cubic zirconia or glass. If in doubt, ask the seller exactly what you’re buying. Our guide to whether moissanite passes a diamond tester explains how moissanite is identified.

Is moissanite worth the money?

If you want a large, bright, durable stone for a sensible price, yes. Moissanite is rated 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale, doesn’t go cloudy, and keeps its sparkle for life with simple cleaning. What it isn’t is an investment: like most jewellery, it resells for much less than you paid. Buy it because you love wearing it. For a full side-by-side, read moissanite vs diamond.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a 2 carat moissanite ring?

On our store, most 2 carat moissanite engagement rings cost $249 to $499 in gold-plated 925 sterling silver, including the setting.

Is moissanite cheaper than a lab-grown diamond?

Generally, yes. Lab-grown diamonds have become more affordable, but a moissanite of the same size usually still costs considerably less.

Why are some moissanite watches so expensive?

Fully iced-out watches carry hundreds of individually set stones, so the setting labour and number of stones drive the price. Even so, they cost a fraction of the same design set with diamonds.

Do you charge extra for shipping?

No. Shipping is free worldwide on every order. Import duties or taxes, if your country charges them, are the customer’s responsibility.
